PCS supports RGB mode, indexed raster colors, grayscale colors, as well as alpha-channels. The depth of image in PCX can be 1, 4, 8 or 24 bit. | Description | JPG is the file format for images made by digital cameras and spread throughout the world wide web. Saving in JPG format an image loses its quality, because of the size compression. But at the end you have a much smaller file easy to archive, send, and publish in the web. These are the cases when an image's size matters more than image's quality. Nonetheless, by using professional software you can select the compression degree and so affect the image's quality. |

PCX files from old paint programs and DOS-era software open in almost nothing on a modern computer. Converting PCX to JPG gives you a compressed photo-quality image that works in every browser, email client, phone, and application without any legacy viewer. Drop your .pcx file above.
PCX is the ZSoft PC Paintbrush image format, developed in the early 1980s for IBM PC paint software. It uses run-length encoding (RLE) compression and supports color depths from 1-bit monochrome to 24-bit true color. PCX was the dominant bitmap format on MS-DOS throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, used in games, desktop publishing, and early scanner software. Modern operating systems do not include PCX support by default.
JPG (JPEG) is the universal compressed photo format, standardized by the Joint Photographic Experts Group. It stores full-color images with adjustable lossy compression, making files significantly smaller than uncompressed formats. Every browser, operating system, camera, phone, and image editor supports JPG natively — it is the default format for photographic images worldwide.
