ODT (OpenDocument Text) is the default word-processing format used by LibreOffice Writer, standardised as ISO/IEC 26300 in 2006. An .odt file is a ZIP archive containing XML descriptions of paragraphs, styles, images, headers, footers, and embedded objects. LibreOffice Writer is the reference editor; OpenOffice, Calligra Words, and Google Docs also read ODT natively.
JPG (or JPEG) is the lossy raster image format defined by the Joint Photographic Experts Group in 1992 and standardised as ISO/IEC 10918. JPG uses discrete cosine transform compression to deliver small file sizes at acceptable visual quality. Every browser, every camera, every messaging app, and every social network handles JPG natively.
