OFX to PDF Converter — Frequently Asked Questions ▼

Upload your .ofx or .qfx file to the CoolUtils converter and click Download. The converter parses the OFX financial data and renders it as a formatted PDF with account details, statement period, and transaction table (date, description, amount, balance). Files up to 50 MB, no signup or registration required.
OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is a data format for exchanging financial transaction data between banks and personal finance software. Banks export account transaction histories as OFX when you use the online banking download function. QFX is Quicken's proprietary variant of OFX — structurally identical for the financial data but with additional Quicken-specific fields. Both formats are supported by the converter.
OFX files are designed for import into financial software — they are not human-readable documents. When you need to share a bank statement with an accountant, submit it for a loan application, attach it to a visa application, or include it in an audit package, a PDF is required. PDFs are accepted as official documents; OFX data files are not.
The PDF produced from OFX data is a formatted transaction report — it displays the account number, institution name, statement period, and a transaction table with dates, descriptions, amounts, and running balances. It does not replicate the exact visual design of your bank's official PDF statement template. If your bank provides a direct PDF download option, use that for mortgage, visa, or legal submissions that require official bank letterhead.
OFX is the open standard (Open Financial Exchange) used by most banks worldwide. QFX is Quicken's branded version of OFX — the financial data is structurally identical, but QFX includes additional metadata fields that Quicken uses for account matching and connection management. The converter handles both formats; the PDF output is the same regardless of whether you upload .ofx or .qfx.
The online converter processes one file at a time. For batch conversion of monthly OFX statement downloads or bulk conversion of a financial archive, use the desktop Total Doc Converter. It processes all .ofx and .qfx files in a folder in a single run with command-line support for automated monthly archiving workflows.
OFX files from most major banks follow the standard format and convert reliably. Conversion issues most commonly occur with very old OFX 1.x files using SGML syntax (rather than the modern XML-based OFX 2.x), or with files that contain encoding errors from the bank's export system. If conversion fails, open the file in a text editor to verify it contains valid OFX data, and contact CoolUtils support with the error details.

Convert OFX to PDF Online — Financial Statements to Portable Document

OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is the data format used by banks, brokerages, and financial software to export transaction histories. Your bank lets you download statements as OFX; Quicken, Microsoft Money, and GnuCash import OFX natively. But OFX is XML-based machine-readable data — it looks like raw code in a text editor and cannot be sent to an accountant, submitted for a mortgage application, or archived as a human-readable record without conversion. Converting OFX to PDF produces a clean, formatted financial statement that displays account details, transaction dates, descriptions, and amounts in a readable tabular layout — shareable, printable, and accepted as a supporting document wherever a bank statement is required.

What Is an OFX File?

OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is a joint standard developed by CheckFree, Intuit, and Microsoft in 1997 for exchanging financial data between banks, brokerages, and personal finance software. Modern OFX (version 2.x) is XML-based. Older OFX (version 1.x) uses SGML syntax — a predecessor to XML. Both versions are widely supported by banks, credit card issuers, and brokerages worldwide.
