DNG files contain full raw sensor data from your camera, but most people cannot open them without Lightroom, Adobe Camera Raw, or a compatible raw editor. PDF is a universal format that opens on any device — phone, tablet, Windows, Mac, Linux. This converter reads your DNG file, processes the raw data, and produces a print-ready PDF you can share instantly.
DNG (Digital Negative) is Adobe's open raw format, introduced in 2004. Unlike proprietary raw formats tied to specific camera brands, DNG was designed as a universal archival standard. It is natively used by Google Pixel cameras, Leica, Hasselblad, and some Pentax models. Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop can also convert any proprietary raw file (CR2, NEF, ARW) into DNG for long-term storage.
A single DNG file typically runs 10–30 MB, though medium-format cameras like Hasselblad produce files exceeding 80 MB. DNG stores 12–16 bit raw sensor data, full EXIF metadata, embedded preview JPEGs, and optionally the original proprietary raw file inside the DNG wrapper. Opening DNG requires Lightroom, Adobe Camera Raw, RawTherapee, or a compatible viewer.
PDF (Portable Document Format) was created by Adobe in 1993 and became an ISO standard (ISO 32000) in 2008. It is the global standard for document sharing and print production. Every operating system, browser, and mobile device can open a PDF natively — no special software required.
For photography, PDF preserves image quality at print resolution, supports embedding of ICC color profiles, and allows a photo to be placed inside a multi-page document. Print labs, publishers, and clients expect PDF when receiving images for print review. PDF files carry no raw processing dependencies and cannot be accidentally edited like a raw file.

To convert an entire folder of DNG files to PDF with the desktop converter:
