Does the EPS output preserve vector paths from the PDF?

Yes, for PDFs that contain vector content. Vector paths, text outlines, and geometric shapes are preserved as PostScript commands in the EPS file. Raster images inside the PDF are embedded as raster data in the EPS.

Will CMYK colors be preserved in the EPS output?

CMYK color values defined in the source PDF are preserved in the EPS. Spot colors defined using Pantone or other color systems are also maintained if they are correctly defined in the PDF source.

Can I open the resulting EPS file in Adobe Illustrator?

Yes. Adobe Illustrator opens EPS files natively. The vector content will be editable in Illustrator, though very complex PDFs may require additional cleanup after import.

What happens if the PDF contains raster images?

Raster images in the PDF are embedded in the EPS as raster bitmap data. The EPS file size will be similar to the PDF in this case. For fully vector output, the source PDF must contain vector content.

My PDF has multiple pages — how many EPS files will I get?
