MHT (MIME HTML) is a single-file web archive format that bundles a web page's HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and embedded images into one file using MIME encoding. Internet Explorer popularized MHT as a way to save web pages for offline viewing, and later versions of Edge and some email clients also support it. Outside of Microsoft browsers, MHT support is inconsistent — Chrome and Firefox do not open MHT without an extension, making the format impractical for sharing or archiving without conversion.
Doc (Microsoft Word .doc format) is a fully editable word-processing document that Word 97 through the current version opens natively, as do LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs, and Pages. Doc preserves text formatting, tables, embedded images, and headers. Converting web archive content to Doc makes it editable and annotatable, and allows the material to be incorporated into reports, legal filings, or internal documentation without specialized browser software.
