| Description | JPEG2000 is an update to JPEG format that provides better compression rates, lossless compression support, up to 24 bit color depth. It unites a family of formats such as JP2, JPM, JPX, MJ2. Compared to JPEG, compression used in JPEG2000 provides smoother image within the same file size. Due to using wavelets on high compression levels there are no block grid 8x8 pixels. It also supports progressive compression that makes the picture cleaner during the load (blurred image turns clear). |

| Description | PNG images provide lossless compression, that is why the quality of the picture is nice, but the size of the file is huge. Because of it this file format is used by photographers. PNG may have several layers of transparency and even include short text descriptions which help search engines to examine the file. Although PNG was developed to replace GIF and partly other formats, it doesn’t support animation since it can’t contain several images like GIF. |

JPF is the JPX file extension for JPEG 2000 Part 2 — the extended JPEG 2000 standard with extra colour spaces and metadata — and almost nothing reads it. Converting JPF to PNG decodes the extended wavelet data into a lossless image every browser, editor, and viewer accepts. Drop your .jpf file above.
JPF (also seen as JPX) is the file extension for JPEG 2000 Part 2, the extended standard the ISO/IEC published in 2004 as ISO/IEC 15444-2. JPF builds on the JP2 container with support for arbitrary colour spaces, multiple component transformations, opacity, vector overlays, and richer metadata. JPF is used in advanced archive, geospatial, and scientific imaging workflows. Mainstream tools rarely open it.
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is the lossless raster image format with alpha-channel transparency standardised by the W3C in 1996. PNG uses deflate compression and supports 8 or 16-bit colour depth and a true alpha channel. Every browser, every image viewer, every design tool, and every document editor renders PNG natively. PNG is the universal lossless image format.
