| Description | IFF (Interchange File Format) is a bitmap graphics file format that was developed by Electronic Arts in the mid-1980s. It was designed to be a universal file format for exchanging graphics and other data between different software applications and operating systems. IFF files typically contain uncompressed or losslessly compressed bitmap images, and can also include metadata such as color palettes, image resolution, and other information about the image. The format is supported by a variety of software applications, including some image editors, multimedia authoring tools, and video game development software. IFF files have largely been replaced by newer and more efficient image formats, such as JPEG and PNG, which offer better compression and more advanced features. However, some older software applications and games may still use the IFF format, and it remains a historical artifact of early digital imaging and graphics technology. |

| Description | PNG images provide lossless compression, that is why the quality of the picture is nice, but the size of the file is huge. Because of it this file format is used by photographers. PNG may have several layers of transparency and even include short text descriptions which help search engines to examine the file. Although PNG was developed to replace GIF and partly other formats, it doesn’t support animation since it can’t contain several images like GIF. |

IFF is an Amiga-era image format that no browser or modern image viewer supports. Converting IFF to PNG gives you a lossless web image with full transparency support that every browser, editor, and platform handles natively. Drop your .iff file above.
IFF (Interchange File Format) was developed by Electronic Arts for the Commodore Amiga in the 1980s. Its ILBM image variant stores graphics as planar bitfields with an indexed color palette, matching Amiga hardware architecture. No current browser, desktop OS, or standard image tool opens IFF without a dedicated plugin or emulator.
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is the lossless web image standard, designed in 1996 as an open replacement for GIF. It uses lossless DEFLATE compression and supports full 24-bit color plus an 8-bit alpha channel for smooth transparency. Every browser, operating system, and image editor reads PNG natively.
