What content is extracted from a DOCX file when converting to XLSX?

The converter extracts all tables found in the Word document. Each table becomes a separate sheet (or a contiguous range) in the XLSX file. Paragraph text outside tables is not included in the spreadsheet output — only structured table data transfers to Excel cells.

Will formulas be added to the XLSX file automatically?

No. DOCX files contain static data, not calculation logic. The XLSX output contains the values from your Word tables as static cell content. You add formulas manually in Excel after conversion.

My DOCX has multiple tables. How are they handled?

Each table in the Word document is placed on a separate worksheet in the resulting XLSX file. The sheets are numbered in the order the tables appear in the document.

What happens to merged cells in Word tables?

Merged cells are preserved in the XLSX output. The converter maps merged table cells to merged Excel cells, so the visual layout of your table is maintained.

Is the text outside tables (paragraphs, headings) included in the XLSX?

What Is DOCX?

DOCX is Microsoft Word's Open XML format, introduced in Office 2007. It stores text, tables, images, headers, and styles in a ZIP-compressed XML package.
