CR2 is Canon's DSLR RAW format — not directly openable in legacy Windows applications, resource compilers, or embedded display systems. Converting CR2 to BMP gives you the Windows-native uncompressed bitmap those systems require. Drop your .cr2 file above.
CR2 is the Canon RAW format used on EOS DSLRs from 2004 to about 2018. It stores 14-bit sensor data in a TIFF-based container with embedded JPG previews and full EXIF metadata. Native support is limited to Canon DPP, Adobe Camera Raw, and a few other professional image editors.
BMP (Windows Bitmap) is the uncompressed image format Microsoft built into Windows in 1990. Every Windows GDI function, every Visual Studio resource editor, every legacy Windows app, and every embedded display system understands BMP. Files are large but rendering is instantaneous.
