Convert PPT to TIFF — Frequently Asked Questions ▼

PPT is Microsoft PowerPoint's legacy binary format, used in Office versions 97 through 2003. It stores slides, embedded objects, fonts, and transitions in a Compound Document Binary File Format container. Modern versions of PowerPoint and LibreOffice can open PPT files, but rendering differences and missing object types are common with very old presentations.
Each slide is rendered to a separate TIFF image capturing the full visual state of that slide: layout, text, colors, fonts, and embedded graphics. The output is either individual TIFF files per slide or a single multi-page TIFF, depending on settings. The images look identical to the slides regardless of what software the viewer uses.
Opening old PPT files in current PowerPoint versions often changes the rendering — fonts substitute, spacing shifts, and older embedded objects (such as Word Art or legacy OLE objects) may not render at all. Converting to TIFF while the file can still be opened captures the original appearance permanently as image data.
The converter renders what the PPT display layer produces. Some very old embedded OLE objects (such as embedded Excel charts from Office 97) may not render in detail. The static slide background, text, and standard PowerPoint shapes are captured reliably.
The online converter handles one file at a time. For bulk conversion of legacy presentation archives, use the desktop Total Doc Converter: TotalDocConvertor.exe C:\ppt_files C:\tiff_out /ConvertTo tiff /ProcessRecursively
The online converter accepts files up to 50 MB. Legacy PPT files are generally small, but those with many embedded images may be larger. For files over 50 MB or batch conversion jobs, use the desktop Total Doc Converter, which has no file size limit.
Files are transferred over HTTPS and automatically deleted from the server within one hour of conversion. For presentations containing confidential information, use the desktop Total Doc Converter, which processes all files locally on your machine without any data being uploaded.

Convert PPT to TIFF Online

PowerPoint 97-2003 PPT files are a legacy binary format that modern systems handle inconsistently — fonts substitute, layouts shift, and older presentations often look broken in current Office versions. Converting PPT to TIFF renders each slide as a lossless image that displays identically everywhere, with no PowerPoint dependency.

What Is PPT?

PPT is the binary PowerPoint format used in Microsoft Office 97 through 2003. It stores slides, embedded objects, fonts, and animations in a Compound Document Binary File Format container. Millions of legacy presentations exist in PPT format across corporate archives, academic institutions, and government agencies. Modern PowerPoint and LibreOffice open PPT files, but older embedded fonts and object types often render differently than the original.

What Is TIFF?

TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is a lossless image format widely used in professional print, archival, and document management workflows. For PPT conversion, each slide is rendered to a separate TIFF image (or combined into a multi-page TIFF). The format supports LZW lossless compression, multiple color depths, and multi-page storage. TIFF is accepted by virtually all professional imaging software, print systems, and document management platforms.
